The 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event is entering Day 6 today at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The tournament began with 6,865 entrants, the third-largest WSOP Main Event in history. Now only a couple hundred players remain in the hunt for the coveted WSOP gold bracelet and the $8.7 million first prize. During the next few days, the poker world will witness unbelievable hands in which millions of chips will cross the table, drastically affecting these players’ lives. Let’s rewind the videotape to recall one of the most memorable hands of the 2010 WSOP, with only 15 players remaining. With blinds 120,000 and 240,000, antes 30,000, the soon-to-be 2010 WSOP champion, Jonathan Duhamel, looked down at Jh-Jc, sitting in the cutoff seat. After the early- and mid-position players folded, Duhamel decided to raise to 550,000. Sitting on the button, young poker pro Matt Affleck chose to re-raise to 1.55 million. When the blinds quickly mucked their hands, Duhamel re-re-raised Affleck to 3.925 million. |
