DTD Grand Prix...The Future Of Poker?

Dusk Till Dawn is really upping the ante when it comes to live poker. With huge competition coming from all angles they are showing they are still prepared to take risks with a view of revolutionizing poker.
This weekend saw three huge tournaments. First we had the GSOP hosted by Old Trafford attracting over 280 Viktor Blom wannabees, a true bloggers nightmare! However it was a German - Jens Kerper who would take the first place prize of $81,175 back home after his J10 suited for there (obv) against Norwegian Rolf Inge Kvanik's AQ suited sending the Skandi packing with $51,570.
Saturday saw the Fox Poker Club main event which was taken down by Hakim Bouzroura who defeated James Koumis heads up for a pay-day of £12,052. On a final table which has no notables, Bouzroura eventually agreed to deal with London born Koumis. Fox poker club isn't done for August yet though, the club looks forward to London Calling – a festival of poker over the August Bank Holiday which alongside it's £500+£40 Main Event offers a £200 Six-Max side event and a £150 Bank Holiday afternoon special.
DTD was the one poker club that wasn't exactly full of smiles this weekend. With a $100,000 guarantee, 306 players turned out for the monthly £300 2 day tournament. With a great structure and a fantastic card room, it is usually the players number one choice for tournaments. The "comp" has been going on years now and we fully expect to see it continue to get good numbers for years to come. It was eventually Geordie Paul Mallett who took home the £23,000 and most importantly... his first flag!
All eyes are now on the Gran Priz IV, which starts today. Is this the future of poker? Although it is only a €60 event the Nottingham poker room is guaranteeing a €250,000 prize pool. For those who haven't got a calculator near, our number cruncher informs us that is a whopping 4166 players they are expecting to turn out! DTD justifies this guarantee by having 20 day ones. That is not a typo. 20 DAY ONES! 10 of which are online and 10 are live at the club. Anybody who makes it into the top 10% of a day one will automatically make the money and day two, to be held at the club on August 20.
Day 1a, the first of the online days begins tonight. Good luck to DTD who once again show they are prepared to take risks to get the players in the door.
