Battle of Scandinavia
Aug. 27, 2011, Posted by Pokerfarm
It seems that our predictions are becoming reality most of the time, especially when we talk about high stakes action.
The last few days were no different as two biggest names battled out each other which in the end resulted with unreal swings and crazy action. You've guessed it folks; the names in question are Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom and Ilari 'Ilari_FIN' Sahamies. The Finn and the Swede are playing their grudge matches throughout this week and the action was immense.
It all started a couple of days ago when Sahamies squeezed more than half a million from Blom's pockets and winning the biggest PLO pot this year in the process. Things were looking very bright for the Finn as he put himself $1.5 million in the black in just three weeks and was by far the biggest winner on Pokerstars during August.
Isildur was losing pot after pot after pot and seemed powerless against the high flying Finn. Everything he won in ring games against other well-known players was simply handed over to Ilari and up until today there was nothing suggesting that things would turn around for the Pokerstars pro.
Blom managed to completely turn the tide against Sahamies and netted in a grand total of one million dollars in just 1652 hands. Considering the fact they were mainly playing $100/200 PLO that has to be one of the biggest upsets this year on the high stakes scene even if it doesn't last for long. Recent action between these two legends has attracted a lot of attention from the poker community and is the most talked about topic of the day.
As things stand, Sahamies is down to less than $500,000 in August winnings and Blom is flying higher than ever this summer. He's hungry for action and willing to play anyone, including PLO specialists like Phil Galfond and Rui Cao. The fearless Swede took some massive beatings time after time again, but it's clear for all to see that nothing can shake his confidence. It will be interesting to see how Ilari picks himself up from this point on.
Isildur is now on top of high stakes earnings for August, closely followed by Phil 'MrSweets28' Galfond, Ilari 'Ilari_FIN' Sahamies and Andreas 'skjervoy' Torbergsen. Meanwhile the biggest losers are the likes of 'Sauce123', 'mTw-Davin', 'LuckyGump' and 'gavz101'. All of them are stuck in the $400,000 - $700,000 region.
This type of high stakes hype reminds us of the nosebleed action quite a while back at FTP and the railbirds are certainly buzzing with non-stop updates through the forums, twitter accounts and more. Summer's almost gone, but as legendary Doyle Brunson would say – it's not over 'till the fat lady sings.

Can i assume that as i signed up for Ladbrokes on the previous offer i will be able to keep the 50% rake back. Also by 10,000 raked hands does that mean 10k real money hands that i play or do i have to be raked in 10k of my hands? Because I have checked my 'raked hands' on ladbrokes and i only have 400 hands after playing 4000. Thanks
