Rinat Bogdanov wins WPT Venice
The Russian player came on top of a 155 player pool and got his ticket to the Bellagio.
Bogdanov will be going home almost a quarter million euros richer and will be amongst the players involved in the WPT Bellagio event. His prize for winning the Venice stop is €229,800 and the $25,000 entry fee for WPT Bellagio which begins May 19th.
Bogdanov’s run is even more impressive when one considers the fact he has $15,000 lifetime tournament earnings.
The poker world rallies around Thor Hansen
Recent news of Thor Hansen’s terminal cancer has alarmed the bells of Betfair Poker, who will be hosting a charity tournament for the Norwegian pro.
The tournament will be an $11 rebuy event, with every $10 from every buy-in going to the Thor Hansen Fund for medical expenses. We can only hope that as many players as possible attend this charity event and help out a great cause.
Macau in & outs
We’ve already reported the winnings and losses of pros like Gus Hansen and Sam Trickett, but there is a new kid on the block.
Ole-Kristian Nergard, a baby-faced 19-year old Norwegian joined the big games in Macau and already reported of some nice wins. The poker prodigy was in the spotlight in last year’s EPT Grand Final where he was the tournament captain before he busted out in 24th. Nergard was rewarded with €40,000 for his effort and has so far won around $375,000 playing online tournaments.
But all these numbers mean next to nothing when we know that Nergard inherited a sum of $29 million from his late father’s fishing company. It is no wonder that the 19-year old is more and more of a regular in the highest games considering his practically infinite bankroll.
