The Pokerfarm steal the show at The British Poker Awards
Sept. 6, 2011, Posted by Pokerfarm
The Pokerfarm had a busy weekend, playing host and sponsor to one of the lecture tents which included talks from Sam Trickett, Roland De Wolf, JP Kelly, Neil Channing, James Mitchell and Sam Razavi.
The 2011 British Poker Awards were a central part of the Poker in the Park festival, hosted by Lucy Porter, one of England's best comediennes. Three of our very own players completely stole the show by winning a total of four awards.
Jake Cody was crowned as the Best Tournament Player following his 'Triple Crown', which included winning EPT Main Event in Deauville and WPT Main Event in London and then crushing WSOP Heads-up High Rollers tournament. There was little doubt that anyone could beat Cody to this award and the public recognized this.
But neither did his successes escape the judges' eyes. Jake also won the prestigious Player of the Year award which was much deserved.
Never one to get out done one of Jakes closest and childhood friends Matt Perrins also scooped an award as he was voted as the Best Breakout Player. Matt was really solid throughout the whole GUKPT and UKIPT series but really shined after winning his first ever WSOP bracelet in the WSOP 2-7 Draw Lowball. He took home more than $100,000 and is determined to prove himself on an even bigger stage. It was an incredible feat given the fact that Matt had only recently taught himself how to play 2-7 and this was his first tournament playing this variation of poker.
Of course there were no surprises when our very own Sam Trickett scooped the award for the Best Cash Game Player, demonstrating time and time again that he is feared in the high stakes games around the globe. As reported, Sam has been a real nemesis to Tom Dwan and many Chinese high rollers during his time in Macau.
It was a great honor to have these 3 players represent The Pokerfarm during the 2011 WSOP and beyond and we look forward to sharing many more success stories from our rooster of players.
