In today’s news update we recap the latest EPT event, preview Poker Tracker 4’s beta testing and see which player will be making an appearance in The Simpsons.

Frederik’s Fiesta in Madrid

The latest EPT of the season came to a close in Madrid yesterday after Danish pro Frederik Jensen topped a field of 477. The win was his first major title and the €495,000 (after a deal) he banked pushed his total tournament earnings to over $2 million.

Frederick Jensen

Coming into the final table 3rd in chips, Jensen started the showdown as a mere bystander as he watched as Jason Duval – who earlier in the tournament checked a royal flush on the river -, Nicolas Levi and Ilan Boujenah hit the rail in quick succession

Next to fall was Ricardo Ibanez who, before making an exit in 5th place, became the first player to earn a penalty at an EPT final table.

A forward motion to gauge the reaction of an opponent didn’t sit favourably with the tournament director and unnecessarily cost him a stack of chips. His misery didn’t last long though as he exited soon after.

Down in 4th was Bruno Lopes. The French rapper, also known as “Kool Shen”, was finally silenced when Jenson’s 6c 5h made two pair to overtake Lopes's pocket kings.

With 5 down it was time for a deal and after thrashing out the numbers it was finally agreed that Jensen would take home the biggest portion: €385,000. That left Andrei Stoenescu with€330,000 and Fraser MacIntyre guaranteed himself €290,000.

With money locked-up Jensen began to dominate, firstly busting Stoenescu, and then outkicking UK pro, MacIntyre with Ac Th in the final hand. The remainder of the prizepool went to Jensen, taking his prize to €495,000 as well as an EPT bracelet and trophy.

PT4 Goes Beta

Despite the rise of Holdem Manager, the Poker Tracker team are still working hard to produce one of the most sophisticated pieces of poker software on the market.

To coincide with their 4th anniversary, the programmes developers announced the launch of Poker Tracker 4 back in June. Since then a selection of players have been testing the software behind the scenes in an effort to iron out any technical wrinkles.

After months of testing the new software is now being made available to the public in an effort to complete the final round of beta testing. Users are being encouraged to sign-up, download the programme and provide feedback.

Once this process has been completed Poker Tracker 4 will be made available for general release.

Tilly Teaches The Simpsons

Move over Jessie May, Jennifer Tilly is set to become the latest voice of poker when she makes her debut in The Simpsons.

The buxom poker beauty has been asked by the show’s producers to lend her vocal chords for an episode featuring poker.

Having become distrustful of US banks, Homer decides to invest Lisa’s college fund into an online poker account. Keen to improve her game, Lisa watches an instructional video presented by Tilly.

The episode, which is entitled Gone Abie Gone, is set to feature in Season 24 of the show and will air sometime next year.
